| In June 1998, a new section of Progress Prostate Cancer Support Group
was set up by the partners of a number of Progress members. Its aims
were directed towards assisting the targets set by Progress, whilst
giving priority to the social and benevolent nature of support. So,
the “ladies section” of the group was formed under the name Partners
in Progress.
Since then, Partners in Progress has grown to become the major fundraising section of Progress Prostate Cancer Support Group and organises many social activities and awareness campaigns in connection with prostate cancer. Some of the activities organised by Partners in Progress so far include: · Knitting Easter Chicks for sale at Easter time · Selling Christmas cards and festive decorations · Coordinating fundraising car boot sales and raffles · Organising sponsored walks · Organising a cruise on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal · Staffing the groups stand at local shows · Organising many social events throughout the year Partners in Progress meet monthly on the first Wednesday of each month at the Holiday Inn Hotel, M4 Junction 24, Coldra Roundabout, Newport, South Wales at 7pm.
